Penthesilea is one of the Amazons in Greek mythology. She was the daughter of Ares and Otrere and the sister of Hippolyta, Antiope and Melanippa. The beautiful queen of the Amazons brought their host to the walls of Troy, going to help her defenders. In the battle with the Achaeans, she won many, but was defeated by Achilles.
