I have a background in graphic design and I’m always loved paper and creating with my hands. When I was in collage I dreamed of having a paper line. Once we graduated college, my husband and I bought equipment for a small letterpress printing shop that we installed in the basement of our house. We were living on a farm at the time in the middle of the country. I knew I would have trouble finding a design job in a small town, so I started my own stationery business. We started the Moglea brand in 2012 by designing 30 or so products and exhibiting at a tradeshow in NYC that same year. We’ve been making Moglea things ever since.
I paint and sketch a lot before each collection and develop all of my pattern and textures from there. I get a lot of my inspiration from fashion, interiors or from my collection of vintage children’s books. We want each Moglea collection to feel fresh and unique, so I try to limit my time on social media. Each collection should feel new and fresh.
