By combining a distinctive color palette, high level of detail, and mysterious motifs, Danish visual artist Maiken Bille has created a captivating universe. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas from her studio in Aarhus, Maiken explores how colors interact to bring the perfect mood to each piece.

Maiken Bille draws inspiration from—and holds a deep love for—textiles and fashion. She explains, “Years of work in the fashion industry have given me an understanding of textiles—how they move and how light falls on them—which adds depth and realism to my work.”

In a short time, Maiken has succeeded in establishing a recognizable world under the artist name Bille who, with artworks full of vibrant scenes. She always has a general idea of the finished piece before sketching it out. As she describes, her mind as an artist is always active; new ideas constantly arise, demanding exploration and visualization. The line between her private life and work life is nearly indistinguishable, as she is continually engaged in a creative process.
