Finn Hjernøe was trained as a lithographic artist at the Graphic Arts Institute, and after a three-year traineeship as a commercial artist he started to work freelance in 1967. He has a passion for jazz and in 1958 he took part in founding the jazz orchestra ‘Århus Fodvarmere’ – later on known as Arosia. His great love for jazz led to numerous rhythmic swinging jazz posters and festivals on Tunø, in Aarhus and in Silkeborg.
Furthermore, Hjernøe has produced innumerable posters in many other areas. At the same time he has made logos for companies both at home and abroad, amongst these are TV2, the Concert Hall in Aarhus and the Danish Handball Federation. Finn Hjernøe is the son of Grete Rich, the commercial artist.
