Photography of Bob Marley by the icon photographer Adrian Boot. Fresh out of college in the early ’70s, Adrian Boot began his career as a physics teacher in Jamaica. A talented amateur photographer, he spent his free time documenting local reggae artists and dancehall culture. After publishing his first photo book, Babylon on a Thin Wire, he decided to pursue his hobby as a full-time profession. Returning to Britain, he started freelancing for NME, The Times, and The Guardian, and by the late ’70s was a staff photographer for Melody Maker. He documented the developing punk scene in the UK and the US and served as the official photographer for landmark events like Live Aid, Roger Waters’ Berlin production of The Wall, and the Grateful Dead’s concerts at the pyramids in Egypt. Adrian has toured numerous exhibitions and is the co-founder of the UrbanImage photo agency and archive. His early work (including a stint working with Bob Marley) laid the foundation for several books about Jamaican culture. He continues to travel the world collecting and promoting positive images of the planet and its people.
