This little beauty was inspired by one of my favourite films, Alfred
Hitchcock's 'To Catch a Thief' (1955). In the opening credits the
camera lingers on a travel agent's (remember them?) window. One poster
bears the legend 'If you love life, you'll love France'. My first
thought was 'I want one of those'. My second thought was 'I want to
make one of those', and so it was given the Double Merrick treatment.
Ours is a bit more alpine, and a bit more winter sport-y than Hitch's
sun bleached Med, but it fits with this time of year.
