What are art illustrations?

In short, art illustrations are creative depictions of, for example, situations, places, concepts and ideas. They are "neutral", as they briefly and effectively show the subject in a realistic way. You can say that they explain or visualize something.

To take an example, there are many beverage-themed posters that can be categorized as illustrations. Here you see, for example, a cocktail or different types of coffee with accompanying text. If the cocktail or coffee is "merely" visualized, it is an illustration. If, on the other hand, you had a poster with an unnamed cocktail that was part of a larger abstract universe, it would no longer be an illustration.

The same motifs can therefore both be art illustrations and other forms of art. The distinction depends on whether the subject is depicted in a neutral and lifelike way, or whether it is distorted in a way that makes it no longer correspond to the physical world.

It may have gotten a bit long-winded above, but the point is that art illustrations depict reality. However, this does not mean that these are photographs of real objects or places. These are illustrations, so we'll continue with the cocktail example, an espresso martini can go out in many different ways.

It is up to the individual artist whether they want to show their espresso martini as a form of line drawing with delicate colors that send the mind towards watercolours, or whether they want to keep it graphic and simple. There is therefore a difference between various art illustrations, and even if several illustrations show the same motif, they can be completely different in their expression.

Precisely because art illustrations can look very different, there are good chances of finding motifs that suit your personal style. Whether you like soft shapes and delicate colors or prefer simple lines, you can find illustrations that suit your taste.

By doing it this way, we minimize our waste of resources. With over 6,000 posters to choose from, we could easily burn through a lot of posters if we had to constantly have them all in stock. In the long run, many of them would be damaged or perhaps out of stock, and then they would go to waste. By printing as the orders come in, we only use the amount of paper that is needed.

In addition to minimizing our paper consumption in this way, it also means that we do not need a large warehouse that needs to be maintained and heated. This is a logistical and financial advantage for us, and at the same time it helps to minimize resource consumption.
